Easy to Moderate Difficulty

We have decided to sub-divide our tours into Easy to Moderate difficulty walking breaks and Longer or more Strenuous walks in order to make it as easy as possible for potential customers to find what they are looking for.

Easy to Moderate walking breaks are usually from 2 to 6 miles and designed for those of reasonable fitness who would like to spend an hour or two or more exploring a popular way-marked walk. We also have some more rugged, but not too difficult non way-marked walks in this section. Many of the walks have extension loops if you decide to walk a further distance on the day. We also provide information on other things to see and do in an area either before or after your walk, inlcuding suggesting good tea rooms or pub lunch places.

We have designed these walking breaks to cover 4 day tours and 7 days tours. In each of these categories we can of course add an extra day or two if you desire.  Our separate Weekend Breaks section also covers two day breaks.

Accommodation

Apart from weekend walking breaks, you can either stay in one accommodation or two different accommodation places in different areas during your stay. click here to see the type of accommodation available. With two accommodation places, you can explore a different area of the region.

One Accommodation Base - At this time our single accommodation places are in and around our base in Castle Douglas - which are idealy situated to give access to surrounding walks locations. We arrange accommodation to a standard of your choice from B&B's to top hotels. We also have the flexibility to use other top quality hotel or country houses around the area which are not otherwise available in the town.

Two Accommodation Bases - In addition to beginning your break by staying at least two nights and around Castle Douglas, you have the option to stay in another location on the second part of your break. The other six locations we recommend at present are Newton Stewart, Solway Coast, Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet, Wigtown and The Glenkens. Depending on the type of walking break you prefer, we can advise on the best other accommodation place.

In addition to Easy to Moderate walking breaks, our tailor made breaks allow you give us information in order to design a tour for you.
